Phaileng: First Cashless Village in Manipur

With the initiative of CSC e-Governance Services India Limited (CSC SPV) under the Ministry of Electronic and Information Technology, Government of India with Department of Information Technology , Government of Manipur, Phaileng Village of Saikul Block under Senapati Disrict has attained the unique status to be the first Cashless Village in Manipur on 18th Dec.2016. On this very day Shri.N.Deben Additional Director Department of Information Technology, Government of Manipur, Shri.Wangkhem Dilip State Head CSC SPV Manipur, Smt. Thokchom Chanu Chingkhainganbi State Level Programme Manager, Shri. Maisilungbou Chawangtingduimai District Manager DeGS Senapati along with the Village Chief has witnesses the cashless transaction on the spot itself. To transform the village to a cashless village, Maisilungbou Chawangtingduimai District Manager, DeGS Senapati has fully engaged for several days promoting the uses of digital methods of payment by visiting door to door of the village. With the transformation as a new digital cashless village, the villagers are using e-wallet (SBI Buddy), UPI, USSD, AePS etc.

Nuagaon becomes first cashless village in Odisha

Nuagaon, a small village in Satyabadi block of Puri district has become the first village in Odisha to introduce cashless transaction. An initiative by CSC SPV, the 300-odd population of Nuagaon village have agreed to adopt cashless transaction to meet ends. It is going to get the tag to be the first cashless village in Odisha under Digi Dhan Abhiyan. In the two kilometer radius of the village, we have five branches of different banks. Besides, 90% of the population is mobile-friendly. Out of the 552 people that live in Nuagaon, nearly half of them consists of the earning population, and this village also consists of 43% of the tribals. Over 90% of the males in the village are literate.
