 Sikkim all set to start Banking through 129 CSCs

The State would be covered by 129 CSCs working as Business Correspondents of State Bank of India, Central Bank and Union Bank before January 31, 2015.

Sikkim would be entirely covered by 129 CSCs working as Business Correspondents of State Bank of India, Central Bank and Union Bank before March 31, 2015. State Bank of India and Central Bank of India and United bank of India are the lead Banks in the State.

Out of 129 CSCs that have been appointed as BCs, 60 will be rolled out before January 31, 2015. The break of 60 centers is shared below:

State Bank of India: 24
Central Bank of India: 33
Union Bank of India: 3

The first batch of 35 VLEs from the State started operations as Business Correspondent of Central Bank on January 12, 2015.

A workshop was held to train the first batch of VLEs to deliver banking services. Over 35 VLEs attended the workshop and are now already delivering the banking services starting from January 12, 2015. Initiative on Financial inclusion has been taken for the first time in Sikkim.

The formal inauguration of first CSP of State Bank of India is scheduled on January 20, 2015. VLE, Mr. Guatum Sharma is looking forward to the inauguration of his CSP. He said, “I am very happy that we are getting this opportunity and we will finally have banking facility at our village in Bhoteygaon East Sikkim”.

During the last SLBC meeting held in Gangtok on November 9, 2014, lead banks had provided an opportunity for setting up of 129 CSP’s and sub service areas were allotted to CSC e-governance services India ltd. across Sikkim.

In a very short period of time, appointment of 60 CSPs has been done and they are working along with NGO - Nawa Joyti Sewa Samity Basilakha. The entire state will be declared to have completed financial Inclusion during this financial year.



 


  More than 1000 CSC wallets opened in Gujarat in a month

Gujarat is moving fast to become the first State in the country to be 100% CSC wallet covered. In the last one month, wallets have been created for all VLEs in more than eight Talukas of the State. The State plans to be 100% wallet covered in the next six months.

More than 1000 CSC wallets have been opened in last one month, of which 80% is a result of efforts put in the HCL Zones.
