 Telangana Governor inaugurates NDLM centre by Cyient Foundation

Governor of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, Shri E.S.L. Narasimhan on August 26, 2015, launched an NDLM training centre set up by the Cyient Foundation on the premises of Telangana State Special Police at Kondapur.

Inaugurating the centre, Shri Narasimhan said, “The biggest benefit of the National Digital Literacy Mission is that it will make people aware of their rights. The facility will help the people in knowing what their rights and responsibilities are, what the government owes to them and what they owe to the country. Men and women today must be computer friendly, only then the governments will be accountable.”

The NDLM centre at the Mandal Parishad Primary School aims to empower neighborhood communities with digital literacy, and facilitate deployment of digitally-enabled citizen services.

The centre is expected to train 1,000 members from 8th Battalion and the surrounding areas to operate a computer or a digital access devices, and use the Internet to search for information, send/receive emails and access various e-governance services. Training modules in the NDLM Centre have been developed in association with the NASSCOM Foundation, covering content on health, education, literacy and livelihood.

This is the third NDLM Centre in Telangana by Cyient Foundation. More than 3,000 community members have had access to the existing centres so far. Mr. BVR Mohan Reddy, Founder and Trustee, Cyient Foundation said, “The whole world is going digital. Developing countries like India can accelerate prosperity by adopting digital technologies. By creating facilities for the Digital Literacy mission, we are engaging citizens from the age of 10-60 years to become digitally literate, and in some cases, improve employability. I am delighted that the Cyient Foundation is involved in nation building through these initiatives.”


 GIIT inaugurates new training centre in Bihar

NDLM Training Partner Global Institute of Information Technology inaugurated a new training centre on August 10, 2015, at Kankarbagh, Patna.

The first batch of candidates in the new centre was inaugurated by well known surgeon and Padma Shri awardee Dr. Narender Prasad. Dr. Prasad shared his views with students and said that the society and their individuals are interdependent on each other and emphasized on the importance of digital education in the present time. Mr. Madhup Mani, CEO, GIIT welcomed all the guests and the student’s present.

GIIT is implementing the scheme across eight states and have more than 200 training centres in Bihar itself. Regional Director, GIIT, Mr. Abhishek Ranjan also spoke about the scheme and detailed the guidelines of this project.

A total of 80 students have been enrolled at the centre as of now. Various guests and students among the attendees expressed their views on digital literacy and its importance in our society.
