NDLM beneficiary Saikumar- a torch bearer of Digital India

Around 70% of Indian lives in rural areas. Most of the rural areas in India do not have access to all weather roads and hence have a tough time during the monsoons. Irked at the deplorable condition of a pot-holed road, Saikumar, a shepherd of Gamma Village in adilabaad district of Telangana decided to address the issue.

A dropout student of class 8th enrolls himself for NDLM training with the help of VLE, Nivalkar Gajanan in February 2016. He completed his assessment in the month of March and got certified under the scheme. Under the NDLM training he learns to operate various devices such as smart phone’s, computer etc. After being trained under NDLM, he purchased a Smartphone and took pictures of the bad roads in his village and sent it to the whatsapp number mentioned in local newspaper for Grievance Redressal. He also sent the pictures to the press reporter of his area.  The news got published in local newspaper name ‘’e-nadu’’ and created enormous affect.  The very next day village sarpanch was asked to get the repairing done of the road and the repairing work got complete within a day.

Saikumar is very happy and appreciated the method of training under NDLM scheme.
