  Hon’ble minister inaugurated a bouquet of health services at the event-SEHAT
Hon’ble Union Minister of Communication and IT, Shri. Ravi Shankar Prasad inaugurated an event "SEHAT" at Stein Auditorium, India Habitat Center, New Delhi.


Hon’ble Union Minister of Communication and IT, Shri. Ravi Shankar Prasad  inaugurated a National Level Conference on "SEHAT"- Social Endeavour in Healthcare and Telemedicine – a Telemedicine initiative in association with Apollo Tele- Health Services (ATHS)' on August 25, 2015 at  Stein Auditorium, India Habitat Center, New Delhi.This is an initiative by CSC e-Governance Services India Ltd. (CSC-SPV). The workshop was organized to showcase the initiatives taken  to provide access to quality healthcare to rural and remote areas of India under Digital India. Tele-medicine services are being provided through Common Services Centers (CSCs) in collaboration with Apollo Tele Health Services (ATHS).


Speaking at the occasion, Hon’ble Minister said that he is thankful to Apollo team of doctors who are extending the services through the CSCs to rural citizen and hoped that they continue to collaborate in this unique venture . He urged them to look at this effort mainly as a social venture in bringing affordable good quality health care services to rural citizen. He further added that the CSCs will also provide diagnostic  services and promote sale of generic drugs through collaboration with Ministry of Health  by setting up of the Jan Aasudhi Stores. With the availability of tele consultation, diagnostic facilities and generic drugs stores, the extension of affordable and quality health care to the citizen especially in rural India will be re-defined.  He hoped that this will become a game changer not only for India but also exemplary for other countries across the globe and added that it shall be able to brand this initiative as an “Indian Model “ for addressing the issues of health care in the world. He said that from Government side he is fully supportive of such initiative which bring about innovation and empowerment of the underprivileged.


Hon’ble Minsiter further said that in this endeavour CSCs will play  a very critical role and urged that the VLEs who are participating in this workshop will rise to the occasion and fully support in this initiative . He said that he has interacted with some of the women VLEs from Various states and firmly believe that they can make full use of this service and extend the benefit to women who get mostly neglected in rural areas .

During the workshop Shri Dinesh Tyagi, CEO, CSC SPV informed that a total of 6000 CSCs are being used across the Country for Telemedicine service to citizens. Services through CSCs include Telemedicine, Tele-ophthalmology, Tele-homeopathy, Diagnostic services, Awareness building of the rural population and more. This is done by the use of the available robust IT technologies and services available under Common Service Centres. CSC SPV caters to the need for affordable health services for the low income rural population.


Dr P C Reddy, Founder Chairman of Apollo Hospitals Group said that he was very happy to be part of this initiative to facilitate Telemedicine services through CSCs across Rural India and provided channels for access to quality healthcare. He said that through this initiative has enabled tele-consultation services from reputed specialists and doctors to remotest corner of India.


The CSCs will also provide diagnostic  services and promote sale of generic drugs through collaboration with Ministry of Health by setting up of the Jan Aasudhi Stores. An MoU was signed between CSC-SPV and Bureau of Pharma Public Sector Undertakings of India (BPPI). Speaking at the occasion Shri M D Sreekumar, CEO Jan Aushadhi Scheme said that with the availability of tele consultation, diagnostic facilities and generic drugs stores, the extension of affordable and quality health care to the citizen especially in rural India will be redefined.

The programme was attended by more than 500 Village Level Entrepreneurs (VLEs) who are delivering telemedicine service across the country through CSCs . On this occasion a Handbook on profiles of 25 Best VLEs delivering Telemedicine from India was also released and felicitation of Top 10 VLEs delivering Telemedicine (Based on Telemedicine transactions) was done by the Honb’le Minister.
