Jansewa Sanchalak Samiti officials organize protests on VLE issues in Varanasi

A protest was organised at the Varanasi Commissioner’s Office on March 14, 2016 by Jansewa Sanchalak Samiti officials on the issues faced by the VLEs in offering the services under CSC scheme in Uttar Pradesh.
The protest was led by Samiti President Ms. Poonam Tiwari and General Secretary Mr. Srikant Singh and attended by hundreds of VLEs from various districts. A memorandum addressed to the State Chief Secretary was also handed over at the Commissioner’s Office. The following issues were raised in the memorandum:

  1. Although the state government has issued orders for free renewal of Jan Sewa Kendra (CSC) IDs for G2C services, however, the DSPs are charging huge money for the same.
  2. 82% of share from G2C services goes to the DSPs and State government. The VLEs are not getting appropriate amount for G2C services.
  3. DSPs are charging for Ration Card services for the transactions made in August 2015, while they have been authorized for collecting charges since January 2016.

Prior to the protest, a press conference was also held on March 6, 2016 voicing the issues faced by VLEs, by the Samiti officials.
