 150 women to be employed as BCs in UP under Project 'Bank Sakhi'

'Bank Sakhi' project of Baroda UP Gramin Bank launched in association with NABARD and SPV will employ 150 women from self help groups of districts Amethi, Raibarelly and Sultanpur of Uttar Pradesh as business correspondents.

The 'Bank Sakhi' Project of Baroda UP Grameen Bank in partnership with NABARD and CSC SPV, was inaugurated by Mr Kishore Kharat, GM, BCC, Bank of Baroda on December 6, 2014 at Raebarely.

The function was attended by Mr K R Kanojia, Chairman and other senior officers of BUPGB, Mr Behra, GM and Mrs Sangeeta Mehra, AGM FI, NABARD, State representatives of CSC SPV, 150 Bank Sakhis and over 100 other existing BCs of BUPGB.

The project aims to engage 150 women members of SHGs in Amethi, Raebarely and Sultanpur Districts of UP, as Business Correspondents of BUPGB. The Bank Sakhis, who are members of SHGs of the Rajiv Gandhi Mahila Vikas Pariyojana, would eventually be on board as VLEs of CSCs.



 


 Women from Self Help Groups in Gaya, Bihar encouraged to set up CSCs

The members of Women Self help Groups of Gaya in Bihar expressed interest to become VLEs of CSCs. On December 10, 2014 a meeting was called in Gaya where 70 members of various SHGs participated and shared their experiences related to the work that they do.


The SHGs have deep penetration and can mobilize services to the poor. Their focus is also on the weakest sections like scheduled castes, scheduled tribes, single women and women headed households, persons with disabilities, landless, migrant laborers, isolated communities, minority communities and communities living in difficult areas (especially flood prone, drought prone and naxalite affected).

In the meeting Dr. Dinesh Kumar Tyagi CEO, CSC SPV instructed the officials of SPV to train the interested members of SHGs in the Gaya Block on computer learning so that they understand the basics of computer operations and facilitate in enabling them to become CSCs and deliver Various services in their community such as

Banking
Pension
Insurance
G2C like Aadhaar , Election, Passport etc.
