 Common e-Service Centres to lend a helping hand to SBI customers

Customers will be able to withdraw and deposit cash at the common service centre.


The Common e-Service Centres (CSC) run by the Tamil Nadu Cable TV Corporation (TACTV) Limited, which had been doing service to the public, providing a host of certificates required for availing welfare assistance within a short time, has proposed to help State Bank of India (SBI) account holders to do transactions at the Centres.

Giving details of the performance of the CSC at the taluk office to the reporters , D. Raman, Deputy Manager/Tahsildar, TACTV, said they were holding discussion with SBI officials to offer the service to the public.

Account holders who could not visit the SBI branches or ATMs could draw cash to a maximum of Rs. 10,000 a day at the CSC, he said adding the account holders could also deposit money in their accounts at the Centre.

He said other services in the pipeline included issuing Permanent Account Number (PAN), Voter’s Identity Cards, electricity bill payment and passports with police clearance certificates.

After the facility was launched in February this year, the Centre had issued more than 20,000 certificates to the public demand for these certificates was at the peak during May with an average of 150 people visiting the Centre a day, Mr. Raman said.. “People are happy they could get the certificates within three days after registration,” he said. Issuing of plastic Aadhaar card was the latest service introduced at the Centre, he added.
