Over 20,000 students appear for examinations under Cyber Gram Yojana in WB

The first phase of Cyber Gram Yojana examinations held in West Bengal ended on a positive note. More than 20,000 students appeared for the examination from the 13 districts in the State. Examinations were held in 112 madrasas and schools across the State during August 3 – 25, 2015.

The scheme, launched in the State on November 2014, is part of the Multi-sectoral Development Programme (MsDP), being implemented by the Ministry of Minority Affairs for the welfare of Minorities across the country. The programme is being implemented in West Bengal under the first phase, where it seeks to impart basic digital literacy to minority students, especially girls, studying in madrasas. The initiative is expected to enable the adoption of ICTs by the people of minority communities in key economic and social sectors like Education, Rural Development and Financial Services to promote competitiveness, equality and quality and would be helpful in transforming the life of minorities and facilitating them to earn a livelihood.
