Over 1,00,000 families trained under NABARD Financial Literacy Programme

A total of 1, 01,359 beneficiaries from the five States of Bihar, Himachal Pradesh, Jharkhand Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh were trained under the NABARD Financial Literacy Programme, implemented between March-August, 2015.

Master Trainers, comprising of CSC SPV representatives, local NABARD and bank officials, visited various locations in the project States to provide training to the VLEs of 3010 selected CSCs. Following the Master Training, the VLEs were asked to mobilize people from their community and train batches of 25 beneficiaries, especially women, on financial aspects such as investment, loan, debt and saving. IEC materials like e-Content, handbook, banner and Trainer’s Manual were also provided to the VLEs for conducting the training sessions.

The training sessions in the project states were distributed according to their population and availability of CSCs providing financial services. Unbanked districts were selected in consultation with local NABARD officials for conducting the training.

A break-up of the total beneficiaries trained as against the State target is shown in the figure below:
