 Financial Literacy Programme training to commence in March

Those VLEs, who are already functioning as Business Correspondents, can express their interest for participating in the programme here.

The training under the NABARD Financial Literacy Programme will commence in the States of Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan, Bihar, Jharkhand and Uttar Pradesh in March 2015. The master training of selected VLEs from these five States is expected to start in the first week of March.

The VLEs, thereafter, will identify and mobilize rural youth for training under the programme. IEC materials like e-Content, handbook and banners will be used during the training sessions. The project aims to train 1, 20,000 rural adults, especially women.

In Uttar Pradesh, the programme will be implemented in the districts of Faizabad, Allahabad, Ambedkar Nagar, Sultanpur, Azamgarh, Amethi, Basti, Fatehpur, Ghazipur, Kaushambi, Mirzapur, Sant Ravidas Nagar and Varanasi.

CSC SPV had successfully implemented a pilot programme on Financial Literacy in two states – Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh, last year. A total of 10,102 beneficiaries had been trained under the programme, with 5,093 beneficiaries in Madhya Pradesh and 5,009 beneficiaries in Chhattisgarh.
