CSC empowers villagers in Kheri village during coronavirus pandemic

Mukesh Kumar started his journey as a VLE in February 2016 at Kheri village, Haryana. Within a short span of time with his proactive efforts, he ensured smooth operation of his CSC. In less than a year, number of transactions in his CSC started rising. He started delivering the services available on CSC Portal and was satisfied in terms of number of services available on the portal as well as the commission it earned for him.

38 years old Ravinder, a daily wage worker from Kheri is beneficiary from CSC centre of Mukesh. Due to coronavirus lockdown, he found himself out of job, instantly unable to afford food. On 26th March, Hon’ Finance Minister Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman announced a relief package to help fight the Covid-19 outbreak. For Ravinder like labourers, the package includes a mix of food security and direct cash transfer benefits. Ravinder came to his CSC and received direct cash transfer benefit of Rs. 1000 immediately through DigiPay. This immediate relief will shield him and his children during the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic.

The VLE says, “During lockdown period I have filled so many forms of Covid -19 free of cost for those people who were not able to pay the cost. In the month of May 2020, I have done 1000 transactions using DigiPay and paid DBT amount of Rs. 51,79000.”

With the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) through DigiPay service of CSC, leakages have been eliminated. Since the system is based on AEPS- biometric identification, there is no chance of fake & duplicate beneficiaries. Apart from DigiPay, the VLE delivers services on Pension forms, Caste certificates, Ration Cards.
