  DigiPay helped 120 years old woman in Bargaon village, Odisha

In a recent incident, a daughter had to take her centenarian mother to a bank in Nuapada district of Odisha to avail pension money after the bank demanded physical verification of the account holder. The woman was dragged to the bank on a cot by her 70-year-old daughter.

The incident came to light after a video of the woman dragging her bedridden mother on a cot to a bank in Odisha’s Nuapada district went viral on social media. The woman from Bargaon village dragged her mother on the cot after the bank official allegedly asked for physical verification.

After seeing this news our CSC VLE Mr. Sanjaya Kumar Chalan visited this old lady's residence and helped her to withdrawal money through DigiPay. The VLE also provided some ration to her family.

“I went to the bank several times in last three months and requested the bank official to release the pension amount. However, the official informed that they would release the pension if I bring my mother to the branch, but now with the help of CSC, my mother can get her old age pension at doorsteps,” said Punjimati Dei.

Her mother is an account holder under Jan Dhan Yojana of the Central government. The government had announced Rs 500 monthly assistance for women Jan Dhan bank account holders from April to June in view of the COVID-19 situation.


  Success story of woman VLE from Gumla, Jharkhand

For VLE Seema Kumari, working in a small city like Gumla, Jharkhand was not easy. With her courage and passion, she crossed the impediments and made sure the successful operation of her CSC centre in Gumla, Jharkhand.

Arts Graduate Seema is mother of three school children. She hails from a middle class family. Seema set up her CSC in February 2018. Seema has done a remarkable performance in several services of CSC. Previously she was working as a Tailor Master and earning approx. Rs. 5,000 per month, but now, as a VLE she is earning Rs.25,000 per month. The services provided at her centre are PMGDISHA, PMJAY, PMSYM, PMFBY, DigiPay, Banking, Passport Pan Card, FSSAI. Seema has employed two people from her city at her centre.

With her entrepreneurial skills for delivering services, she earned good reputation in the locality.
