 UNICEF India representative visited Stree Swabhiman Unit in Birni block, Jharkhand

Dr. Yasmin Ali Haque, representative of UNICEF India, visited Stree Swabhiman Unit in Birni block of Giridih District in Jharkhand. She appreciated the work of VLEs and Stree Swabhiman Unit.

Swachh bharat mission team also visited this unit and wants to procure the product under Swachh Bharat - 2, which will focus on hygiene.

Dr. Yasmin Ali Haque (Representative of UNICEF India), Dr. Laxmi Sexena Jharkhand (Representative of UNICEF Jharkhand) along with Dr. Neha Arora (District Commissioner Giridih), DEO, DPO, SDO and BDOs visited CSC Centre of CSC VLE Kiran Kumari in block Birhni, to understand the process of the initiative taken by CSC e Governance services India Limited “Stree Swabhiman” Sanitary Napkin Manufacturing unit.

UNICEF Reprehensive appreciated the initiative for women’s health and hygiene. Apart from providing affordable and accessible sanitary products to adolescent girls and women, the initiative for creating awareness and outreach by the CSC Village Level Entrepreneurs to effect behavior change towards the issue of menstrual hygiene in the community.


 Workshop on Wi-Fi Choupal organized in Goregaon & Gondia, Maharashtra

To propel India’s growth, technology is of utmost importance and key to the Digitalization. A series of workshops were held in Goregaon and Gondia districts of Maharashtra to motivate VLEs for tapping the opportunities to deliver services under Digital India and become the change agents of the country.

VLEs were briefed about the services of Wi-Fi Choupal i.e. FTTH connection, Wi-Fi for villagers with lowest internet plans, GPON etc… demonstration of accessing internet through recharging Wi-Fi Choupal coupon was also administered to the VLEs.

VLEs also raised the queries regarding the issues they were facing while operating services and necessary support was given to them for delivering uninterrupted services in gram panchayats.


 2000 VLEs participated in facilitation program of Ghar Ghar Rozgaar in Punjab

State level facilitation program held for newly identified VLEs under Ghar Ghar Rozgaar Program of Punjab Government. 2000 VLEs participated from across the state.

10 VLEs from Kapurthala, 3 VLEs from Hoshiarpur, 3 from Tarn Taran and two from each district of the state were awarded certificate from cabinet ministers Sh. Charanjit Singh Channi (Hon’ Minister for Technical Education & Employment Generation), Shri Brahm Mohindra (Hon’ Health Minister), Shri Sadhu Singh Dharamsot (Hon’Forest Minister), Smt Razia Sultana (Hon’ minister for Social Security & Development of Women and Children).


 Training on manufacturing sanitary napkins at CSC Balasore, Odisha

Women workers are being given training on manufacturing sanitary napkins by CSC team at unit run by VLE Jayanta Kumar Dash at Patrapada locality in Balasore, Odisha. Stree Swabhiman. In order to tackle these issues related to menstrual hygiene in Patrapada Odisha, VLE Jayanta, inspired by CSC’s ‘Stree Swabhiman’ initiative, has set up a sanitary napkin manufacturing unit in Balasore. With the unit, the VLE aspires to make available quality, hygienic and affordable sanitary napkins to villagers in rural areas of the district to liberate them from poor menstrual hygiene, which results in health complications, infections and cervical cancer. Along with manufacturing sanitary napkins, the VLE is creating awareness among women regarding menstrual hygiene and benefits of using sanitary napkins by organising camps at CSC, schools and Anganwadi Centres and conducting door-to-door visits in the villages.


 ‘First in Maths’ launched at Susnigaria Panchayat, Jharkhand by VLE Dr. Rajani Sodera

First in Maths project launched at St. Xavier's English high school in Jamshedpur, Susnigaria Panchayat, East Singhbhum. VLE Dr. Rajani Sodera is taking care of the project at this CSC centre. During the program, Mr. Nirdosh Mathur (COO of FIM), state CSC officials were present.
