3 Lakh Common Services Centres Changing Lives of People in Rural India

As Rural India is witnessing transformative change, Common Services Centres (CSCs) are becoming companion of this endless journey. Earlier, people had to roam here and there to avail even a small service in rural India, but these CSC centres are now providing services related to government, agriculture, education, health, veterinary, self-employment to villagers under one roof.

How do these Common Service Centres work? What are the services provided by CSCs? How lakhs of jobs are generated through CSCs? These questions will be discussed in the presence of Village-Level Entrepreneurs (VLEs) from 3 states, Dr. Dinesh Tyagi, CEO, CSC-SPV, Rishkesh Patankar (Education), Archi Sharma (Health) and Agriculture Editor of Business Standard Sanjeev Mukherjee.

 Skill based training for farmers through CSCs under National Mission for Sustainable Agriculture

CSC SPV has collaborated with Department of Agriculture to provide skill based training to farmers and VLEs on Soil Health Management (SHM) under National Mission for Sustainable Agriculture (NMSA). Recently, CSC SPV has organized training program at the various locations across the country.

SHM aims at promoting Integrated Nutrient Management (INM) through judicious use of chemical fertilizers including secondary and micro nutrients in conjunction with organic manures and bio-fertilizers for improving soil health and its productivity; strengthening of soil and fertilizer testing facilities to provide soil test based recommendations to farmers for improving soil fertility.

The initiative also ensures quality control requirements of fertilizers, bio-fertilizers and organic fertilizers under Fertilizer Control Order, 1985;

upgradation of skill and knowledge of soil testing laboratory staff, extension staff and farmers through training and demonstrations; promoting organic farming practices.
