VLEs can help the Society by registering Children with Hearing Impairment for Cochlear Implant. Cochlear Implant is a small electronic device that electrically stimulates the cochlear nerve (nerve for hearing). The implant has external and internal parts. The external part sits behind the ear. It picks up sounds with a microphone. It then processes the sound and transmits it to the internal part of the implant.

The main objective of the Scheme is to assist the needy disabled persons in procuring durable, sophisticated, and scientifically manufactured, modern, standard aids and appliances to promote physical, social, psychological rehabilitation of Persons with Disabilities by reducing the effects of disabilities and at the same time enhance their economic potential
